Friday night: Rod Blumenau Swingtet

Rod Blumenau has been performing his style of danceable jazz on the Upstate scene for over forty years. On Friday June 4th he brings in his Swingtet, featuring outstanding musicians who are normally band leaders in their own right: Jon Seiger on trumpet and vocals; Jeff Campbell on bass; Brad Paxton on drums; and special guest clarinetist Ron “PeeWee” Joseph from Rome, New York. The Swingtet will play classic favorites from the 1930s swing era as well as more modern tunes with the same infectious rhythms, and Jon Seiger often adds humorous vocals to the proceedings. Come with new soles on your shoes; you'll wear them down!

Saturday night: Baby Soda

Baby Soda! Developed by hoboes, perfected through science... Baby Soda is on the cutting edge of a new movement loosely known as street jazz; with an eclectic set of influences ranging from New Orleans brass bands, jug music, southern gospel and hot jazz... featuring Jared Engel on banjo, Peter Ford on 1 string bass, Adrian Cunningham on clarinet, Kevin Louis on cornet and Emily Asher on trombone. Both Pediatrics and Geriatrics agree, Baby Soda is the sure cure for the aches and pains of the modern world!
